Implant-Supported Dentures in Boca Raton

Implant-Supported Dentures in Boca Raton

A denture that clicks firmly into place and stays there through a full meal feels nothing like one held in by suction and adhesive. That difference — the ability to bite into a sandwich, laugh mid-conversation, or speak at a meeting without bracing your jaw — is the reason so many of our Boca Raton patients ask about implant-supported dentures. Instead of resting on the gums, the denture anchors to dental implants placed in the jawbone, so the bite force travels through the implants the way it once traveled through natural tooth roots.

An implant-supported denture is a full arch of replacement teeth that attaches to a small number of dental implants — titanium posts surgically placed into the jawbone, where they fuse with the bone over a period of healing. Depending on your anatomy and goals, the denture may be removable and snap onto the implants, or it may be fixed in place and removed only by us during maintenance visits. Both approaches share the same core advantage: the implants carry the load, so the appliance doesn't rock, slide, or press painfully on sore spots.

We place implants and restore full arches in-house, including All-on-4, All-on-6, and All-on-X treatment designs, and we have an on-site dental lab. For Boca Raton patients, that matters in practical terms — adjustments, relines, and fabrication steps happen under our own roof rather than being shipped out and waited on, which keeps appointments shorter and turnaround tighter.

Most people considering implant-supported dentures fall into one of a few situations. Some have worn a conventional upper or lower denture for years and are tired of adhesive, limited chewing, and a plate covering the palate. Others still have failing teeth — often from advanced gum disease — and want a plan that addresses the infection and the replacement in one coordinated course of care. A third group has lost a single arch and wants it rebuilt without clasping onto remaining natural teeth.

Candidacy comes down to the health of your gums and the volume and quality of your jawbone. As a periodontal practice, we evaluate both as a matter of routine. Active gum disease is treated first, because implants need healthy supporting tissue. If the bone has resorbed after years of tooth loss or denture wear, bone grafting or ridge augmentation can rebuild the foundation so implants have something solid to anchor into. We also offer periodontal regeneration and gum grafting when the surrounding tissue needs reinforcement. You do not need a referral to be seen, and our board-certified periodontist is directly involved in treatment planning.

What the Process Involves

Treatment begins with a thorough examination and imaging to map bone height, width, and the position of important anatomy. From there we build a plan that explains how many implants are recommended, whether grafting is needed, and what your teeth will look like at each stage.

Here is what Boca Raton patients can generally expect:

  • A consultation and diagnostic workup, including discussion of removable versus fixed options
  • Any preparatory care — gum disease treatment, extractions, bone grafting, or ridge augmentation
  • Surgical placement of the implants
  • A healing period while the implants integrate with the bone
  • Attachment of the final denture, fabricated and fine-tuned with the help of our on-site lab

Fit is adjusted carefully at delivery and again at follow-up visits. Small refinements in how the denture seats and how your bite meets are normal and expected, and they are a large part of why the finished result feels stable.

Caring for Your New Teeth

Implant-supported dentures still need daily cleaning. A removable denture comes out for brushing, and the attachments and gum tissue around each implant are cleaned as well. A fixed denture is cleaned around and underneath the bridge, usually with a combination of brushing, interdental aids, and irrigation — we show you exactly how, using your own restoration, before you leave.

Professional implant maintenance is the other half. We monitor the tissue around each implant, check the attachments and screws, clean areas you can't reach, and watch for early signs of inflammation. Catching a problem early is far simpler than correcting one that has progressed, which is why we schedule these visits on an ongoing basis.
