Dental Implants in Delray Beach

Losing a tooth rarely happens at a convenient time. Maybe a molar cracked while you were eating, or a tooth you had root canal treatment on years ago finally gave out. Maybe you've been managing a loose partial denture for so long that you've stopped eating certain foods altogether. For Delray Beach patients in any of these situations, dental implants offer a way to replace what's missing with something that stays put, functions like a natural tooth, and doesn't rely on the teeth next to it for support.

A dental implant is a small post, usually titanium, placed into the jawbone where a tooth root used to be. Over the following months, bone grows around and bonds to that post, creating a stable foundation. A custom restoration — a crown, bridge, or denture — is then attached on top. The result is a replacement tooth that is anchored in bone rather than resting on the gums or clasped onto neighboring teeth.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Traditional bridges require reshaping healthy adjacent teeth. Removable dentures sit on the gum surface and can shift when you talk or chew. Because an implant replaces the root as well as the crown, it also helps maintain the jawbone in that area, which naturally shrinks when a tooth has been missing for a while. As a periodontal practice, we focus specifically on the gums and bone that support teeth, which is the same foundation an implant depends on.

Most adults missing one tooth, several teeth, or all their teeth are potential candidates. The real question is whether there's enough healthy bone and gum tissue to support the implant, and whether any active gum disease has been brought under control first. Placing an implant into infected or unstable tissue sets it up to fail, so we treat gum disease before we place anything.

If bone volume is thin, that's usually solvable rather than disqualifying. Bone grafting rebuilds height and width in areas where bone has resorbed after tooth loss. Ridge augmentation restores the shape of a jaw ridge that has flattened, often after long-term denture wear. Gum grafting adds tissue thickness where gums have receded. These procedures are part of what we do every day, and they frequently turn a "no" into a "yes" for patients who were told elsewhere they weren't candidates.

For patients missing a full arch, we offer All-on-4, All-on-6, and All-on-X full arch solutions, as well as implant-supported bridges and implant-supported dentures. These approaches use a strategic number of implants to carry a complete set of teeth, rather than replacing each tooth individually.

What the Process Looks Like

Your first visit is an evaluation. We examine your gums, assess bone levels, review your medical history, and discuss what you want out of treatment — whether that's one tooth in the back or a full arch replacement. From there we map out a sequence and timeline. Delray Beach patients can schedule directly with us; no referral is required.

Here's the general progression, though specifics vary by case:

  • Any gum disease treatment or bone grafting needed to prepare the site
  • Surgical placement of the implant post, done with appropriate anesthesia
  • A healing period while bone fuses to the implant
  • Impressions and fabrication of your final restoration
  • Placement and bite adjustment of the crown, bridge, or denture

Our on-site dental lab is a practical advantage during these last steps. Having fabrication in-house means adjustments and refinements happen faster, without shipping work out and waiting on a return. A board-certified periodontist is on staff and involved in surgical planning and placement.

Aftercare and Long-Term Maintenance

After placement, expect some swelling and tenderness for several days. We'll give you specific instructions on diet, cleaning around the surgical site, and what to watch for. Most discomfort resolves within the first week, and we see you for follow-ups to confirm healing is on track.

Implants don't decay, but the gum and bone around them can still become inflamed and break down — a condition similar to gum disease. That's why we provide ongoing implant maintenance, with cleanings and monitoring specifically designed for implant surfaces. Daily brushing and flossing still apply, and regular professional care protects the investment you've made.

Payment and Financing

We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice and do not participate with insurance plans. We do file claims as a specialist on your behalf, which can help you recover benefits your plan allows. We also welcome self-pay and cash patients.

Before treatment begins, you'll receive a clear written breakdown of what your plan involves and what it costs — including any grafting or gum treatment needed first — so you can make a decision with full information. We serve Delray Beach along with Boca Raton, Highland Beach, and Deerfield Beach, and we're glad to answer questions before you commit to anything.
