Implant-Supported Dentures in Delray Beach

A denture that slips while you're eating is not something you have to live with. Implant-supported dentures anchor your prosthesis to dental implants placed in the jawbone, so the teeth stay put when you chew, speak, and laugh. For many of our Delray Beach patients, this is the difference between avoiding steak and salad altogether and eating normally again. Because we're a periodontal practice with a board-certified periodontist on staff, implant placement and the gum and bone work that often goes with it happen under one roof.

A conventional denture rests on the gums and relies on suction, adhesive, and the shape of your ridge to stay in place. An implant-supported denture connects instead to titanium implants that integrate with your jawbone. Those implants act like tooth roots, transferring the force of chewing into the bone rather than pressing it down. That distinction matters, because the bone under a traditional denture tends to shrink over time, which is why dentures that fit well one year feel loose the next.

There is more than one way to build this. Some patients choose a removable overdenture that snaps onto a small number of implants and comes out for cleaning. Others prefer a fixed full-arch solution — All-on-4, All-on-6, or All-on-X — that stays in the mouth and is removed only by us at maintenance visits. We also place implant-supported bridges when only a section of the arch is missing. Which path fits you depends on your bone volume, your bite, your budget, and how you want to care for the prosthesis day to day. We walk Delray Beach patients through each option rather than steering everyone toward the same answer.

  • A stable bite that lets you eat firm, crunchy, and chewy foods again
  • No denture adhesive and no slipping while you speak
  • Preservation of jawbone, since implants stimulate the bone the way natural roots do
  • A palate-free design option on the upper arch, so you can taste food more fully
  • Support for facial structure, which loose dentures and bone loss tend to undermine
  • A long-term solution you clean and maintain rather than replace on a short cycle

Candidacy comes down to healthy gums and enough bone to hold implants. Active gum disease has to be treated first, and we provide that care here, along with periodontal regeneration for patients whose supporting tissue has already been damaged. If the ridge is too thin or too short, bone grafting and ridge augmentation can rebuild the foundation before implants go in. Many people who were told years ago that they had "no bone for implants" turn out to be candidates once grafting is part of the plan. Age alone rarely disqualifies anyone; stable general health and a commitment to home care matter far more.

What the Process Looks Like

We start with an exam and imaging to map your bone, sinuses, and nerve position, then review your medical history and what you want from your new teeth. From there you'll get a written plan that spells out the sequence: any extractions or grafting, implant placement, healing, and the final prosthesis. If grafting is needed, healing is measured in months, not weeks, and we'd rather say so upfront than surprise you partway through.

Implant placement is a surgical appointment performed here in our office. The implants then integrate with bone over a healing period, during which you wear a temporary prosthesis so you are never without teeth. Our on-site dental lab is a practical advantage for Delray Beach patients during this stage — adjustments and fabrication steps happen in-house, which shortens turnaround and reduces the number of trips you make for small refinements. When integration is confirmed, we attach the final denture and refine the bite.

Aftercare, Cost, and Getting Started

Implant-supported dentures need daily cleaning around the implants and the underside of the prosthesis, plus professional implant maintenance at regular intervals. We check the tissue around each implant, clean areas a brush can't reach, verify the bite, and tighten or service components as needed. Catching inflammation around an implant early is far easier than treating it late, which is why these visits aren't optional extras.

We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service office and do not bill insurance, and we welcome self-pay and cash patients. You'll receive clear costs for each phase before treatment begins, so you can plan. We accept patients without a referral, so if you live in Delray Beach and are tired of working around a loose denture, you can call us directly to schedule a consultation.
