Dental Implants in Highland Beach

A missing tooth rarely stays a cosmetic issue for long. Once a root is gone, the bone that once supported it begins to shrink, neighboring teeth drift toward the gap, and chewing shifts to one side of the mouth. A dental implant addresses that chain reaction at its source by replacing the root itself — a small titanium post placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone over several months and then supports a crown, bridge, or full set of teeth. For our Highland Beach patients, that means a replacement tooth that is anchored, stable, and cared for much like a natural one.

Implants work because of a biological process called osseointegration: bone grows directly against the surface of the post, locking it in place. That stability is what separates implants from removable appliances. You bite into firm foods without planning around them, speak without worrying about slipping, and brush and floss in a normal routine. Because the post stimulates the jaw the way a natural root does, it also helps preserve the bone volume that otherwise diminishes after extraction — which protects facial shape and the fit of any future restorations.

Implants adapt to very different situations, and that flexibility matters for Highland Beach residents who come to us at every stage of tooth loss.

  • A single implant with a crown for one missing tooth, without altering the healthy teeth beside it
  • Implant-supported bridges when several teeth in a row are gone
  • Implant-supported dentures that snap securely onto implants instead of resting on the gums
  • All-on-4, All-on-6, and All-on-X full arch solutions for an entire upper or lower jaw
  • Full mouth dental implants for patients rebuilding both arches

Good candidates have healthy gums and enough jawbone to hold an implant securely. Because we are a periodontal practice, gum health is where we start. Active gum disease must be treated first, since the same infection that loosens natural teeth can threaten an implant. We also provide gum grafting when recession has thinned the tissue around the site, and cosmetic gum contouring or crown lengthening when the gum line needs to be reshaped for a natural-looking result.

Bone volume is the other common question, and a thin or resorbed ridge is not an automatic disqualification. Bone grafting and ridge augmentation rebuild the foundation so an implant can be placed with proper support, and periodontal regeneration can restore tissue lost to past disease. Many Highland Beach patients who were told years ago that they had too little bone are candidates once that groundwork is done. Highland Beach patients can schedule with us directly — no referral is needed to be evaluated.

What the Implant Process Involves

Treatment begins with an examination and imaging to map bone height, width, and the position of nearby structures. From there we build a plan that states what is needed, in what order, and roughly how long each phase takes. If grafting is required, that healing period comes first. Placement itself is a focused surgical appointment in which the post is positioned into the bone and the site is closed to heal.

Healing typically spans a few months while osseointegration occurs, and a temporary restoration can often be worn during that stretch. Once the implant is stable, we take impressions and attach the final crown, bridge, or denture. Our on-site dental lab is a practical advantage here: fabrication and adjustments happen under our own roof, which keeps communication direct and reduces the back-and-forth that can stretch a case out. With a board-certified periodontist on staff, the surgical and restorative planning stay coordinated from the first visit through the final fitting.

Aftercare, Cost, and Scheduling from Highland Beach

Implants do not decay, but the gum and bone around them still need protection. Daily brushing and flossing, cleanings on schedule, and implant maintenance visits with us are what keep peri-implant tissue healthy for the long term. At those appointments we check the fit of the restoration, measure tissue around each post, and clean areas a toothbrush cannot reach. Patients with a history of gum disease benefit most from staying consistent with this routine.

We are an out-of-network, fee-for-service practice and do not take insurance. We do accept self-pay and cash patients, and because we file claims as a specialist, we can submit documentation to your insurer so you can pursue any out-of-network reimbursement your plan allows. You receive a clear written treatment plan with costs before anything begins, so there are no surprises mid-treatment.

Along with Highland Beach, we care for patients from Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Deerfield Beach. Call us to arrange a consultation and find out which implant option fits your situation.
